Match Report - Junior Cowdy Quarter Final

A tremendous victory was secured by Rockmount on Sunday 1 August when Rockmount came out winners over Edenmore by 4 1/2 to 3 1/2. As with previous rounds the foundation for success was due to the excellent performance in the away leg where Rockmount got 2 wins and were able to keep the holes advantage for Edenmore down to one. Great performances on the day came from Russell Jamison and Davy Stronge with a 4 and 3 victory and from Ian Williamson and Paddy Lawlor with a hard fought 2 and 1 victory having been down for most of the match.

The home leg proved to be a very hard fought match with Edenmore getting off to a great start. At one stage they were up in 3 and all square in the other. However the guys displayed great determination and skill to fight back and get the 2 and a half points needed to progress. Here again Russell and Davy came through with a 2 and 1 win as did new boys Paul Clydesdale and Neil Jamison. I believe the real reason was probably due to the appearance on the course of the lady captain to encourage and support 'her boys'. Paddy and Ian took their foot off the pedal being dormy 4 up but got the all important half. We now face Castleblayney in the semi final.

I would like to thank the Club Captain Alan Mc Clune and Vice Captain Stevie Clarke for their presence and support on the day. Also to the messages of support from other players in the squad who have helped the team to progress this far namely, Brendan Houston, Davy Kirk, Sean Lawell, Malcolm Foreman, John Mc Grath, Stevie Lee, Mark Younger, George Russell, Stevie Clyde, Barry O'Neill and Walter Hogg. This is very much appreciated. Thanks also to Brendan Houston, Charlie Toland and Adam Foreman who came down to Edenmore for the away leg to support the boys. All support would be most welcome for the semi final.  Dates will appear on the website when agreed.
