Junior Cup, Rossmore & Junior Cowdy Teams Make it a Treble Success

Sunday 30th July was a very successful day for the Junior Cup, Junior Cowdy and Rossmore teams after they all reached the semi-finals of their respective competitions.

Junior Cup - Team Captain, Jimmy Robinson

Rockmount successfully overcame Clandeboye at Shandon Park tonight (30th July) in a very wet quarter final encounter. The start was delayed by heavy showers and at one point the tie might have been called off. The weather broke, the course recovered and the match was on. Adam Douds led the charge and won 4&2, next out was the father of the team James Hume who turned in a 4&3 victory. Darren McConnell played number 3 and won 5&4. David Turner was 4 up through 13 when called in. Lewis Patmore was 1 up through 13 when he was also called in. Terrific result by Team Captain, Jimmy Robinson and his team. Semi final will be against Malone at Belvoir on Sunday 6th August at 5.10pm.

Rossmore Cup - Team Captain, Gary Gorman
UPDATE (30/7/17)
The Rossmore Cup team also won their quarter final against Lurgan yesterday. They had a three and a half to a half advantage from the home leg so only needed one match out of the four at Lurgan. Paul and Drew Mearns got the point.
Junior Gowdy - Team Captain, Kevin Coyle

Sunday 30th July saw another superb performance put in by the Junior Cowdy team against Lisburn.

The match was again played in exemplary spirit by both teams.

As expected from last week’s tight matches the Lisburn team showed their strength at home. Through 9 we were level in one just down in 2 and up in 1.

The final pairing proved decisive on the back nine to win 5&4 and all the other matches were called in.

Thanks to all the members who came down to support the team.

Thanks to the Captain, John Hinds, for seeing all the four-balls off the first tee on a busy day of matches for him. Thanks also to Vice Captain Frank McWilliams who supported the team all through the match, the team Vice Captain Fergus McCartney as spotter for the first match, Tommy McCabe as spotter on second match and Council Rep Brendan Houston as spotter on the 3rd match. These three were great motivation for all their pairs.

A great team effort by everyone involved over the 2 legs to get the win.

The team now go on to the Semi-Final against Mourne with dates to be arranged.
