On a day of strong winds and heavy showers, Rockmount veterans opened their account in the J B Carr knockout competition with a hard fought victory.
Format:- Greensomes with the away team receiving a courtesy shot per pair.
Ronnie and Colin never got going early on and found themselves 4 down but fought back to 1 down and finally succumbed on the 18th green.
Paddy and Mark flew out of the tees to be 4 up after 4 and showed their worth to finish on the 15th green.
Andrew and Fred played steady and were always in control, also finishing on the 15th. When Fred gets the pipe going he is hard to beat.
Andy and Joseph stumbled somewhat at the start to fall behind but being the fighters they are eventually won on 17th.
Gavin, just recovering after heart problems, and Frank opened with a birdie at the 1st and were never behind despite falling away somewhat at holes 9 and 10.
Never say die attitude from the Rockmount players against an experienced but friendly team from Larne
