What an exciting match this was. It was nailbiting to the end, with Enniskillen winning the match at the 3rd tie hole…Colin Henderson put up a great battle. Two of our ‘old stalwarts’ from the club, Andy Gregge and Barry Douds had great victories. My thanks to Lady Captain Moyra Evans, Michael Clarke and Ben Fraser for their support at the match. The Junior Cup campaign this year has been an absolute joy to be a part of as Team Captain and the whole squad can feel very proud of themselves on reaching the quarter finals. It augers well for next year and again I would like to thank Team Vice Captain Alan McClune and each and every squad member for their efforts and commitment. |

Sunny and calm day. Another great performance from our team. They were totally focussed on the job at hand against a strong Ballyclare team. My thanks to Team Vice Captain Alan McClune for going round Castlereagh Hills the night before the match and producing a set of excellent notes and measurements for the team. Thanks again to our supporters and caddies who as always play a vital role within the match. It was particularly encouraging to receive great support from our Senior players in terms of Jonny Patterson & James Hume. Next match is quarter final against either Scrabo or Enniskillen at a neutral venue on or before 25th July 2011. |

Conditions were dry but slightly breezy. Wow!! What a roller coaster ride we had at Shandon against Dunmurry. Each and every player was a credit to Rockmount Golf Club. They battled on and with perserverence managed to pip Dunmurry at the post. Dunmurry had 2 matches won and just needed one more from the three remaining matches on the course. Colin Henderson held his nerve and got our first points on the board with a fine win at the first tie hole. Then Mark Wynne secured another match on the 18th. Last match was Gregg Sterritt and he sank a 6 feet putt on the last to put the match into extra time. The first tie hole was halved and Gregg secured victory for Rockmount at the next hole with steady play after the Dunmurry player got into trouble with his tee shot. Special mention to Alan Roper who had to withdraw from the team at the last minute due to injury. He put the team first and asked to be dropped. Well done Alan for your honesty and integrity. Special thanks to all the caddies and also to Dougie Fairweather, Tom Delaney and Ben Fraser for their support throughout the day. |

Very windy…tough conditions Well done to the team on qualifying in 3rd place at Dunmurry. Great score by Andy Gregge considering the conditions…3 birdies in the last 8 holes. He was ably assisted by Barry Douds on the bag. Many thanks Barry. Full marks to the team for grinding out the scores.
