Slightly blustery conditions. A great effort by our team against a Ballyclare team who were out to avenge their defeat by us in the Junior Cup. Rockmount fought hard and a great win by Stephen Morwood and a half by Andy Gregge means things are set up for a nailbiting finish at Rockmount on Tuesday 26th July at 5:30pm. Special mention to Paul Kelly who managed to level the match after being 4 down but unfortunately was beaten on the 17th hole. Please come along and support our team on Tuesday 26th July. |

On a bright and sunny afternoon,the Rockmount Holt Shield Team travelled to Cliftonville in the second match of the group stages. Although the result may have been disappointing, winning two matches away from home on the tricky Cliftonville course was particularly pleasing. All members of the team played exceptionally well with Jimmy Robinson who showed all his battling skills after being 5 down at one stage came back to reduce the deficit to 2 with three holes to play. A magnificent second shot in at the 16th by his opponent to within 12inches put the match beyond doubt with Jimmy conceding the putt. Andy Gregge and Andy Campbell had also very close matches with both games going down 18. Stevie Morwood clinched his match at 18 with a solid all round display to make it 2 wins out of two in the Holt Shield. Likewise as with the ever reliable Mark Wynne who never put a foot wrong in the last match out. A tremendous performance saw Mark play some fantastic golf defeating his opponent by 5/4.
Next match up un the Group stages will be Shandon Park at home next month. My thanks to Club Vice Captain Peter O’Hara, Barry Douds, Frankie Ward and Paul Mearns who came along on the day to support the team. I know it was greatly appreciated by myself and the members of the Team. Thank-you
