Competition Rules 2010

WOULD ALL MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE THAT  SUMMER 2010 RULES WILL BE FULLY IMPLEMENTED BY THE RELEVANT COMMITTEE WITH EFFECT FROM THE SATURDAY 3rd APRIL 2010.
A FULL SET OF RULES IN LOCATED ON THE NOTICEBOARDS IN BOTH GENTS AND LADIES LOCKER ROOMS + MEMBERS AREA OF THE CLUB WEB SITE.

1. TIME SHEET

Time sheet to be made available on line on Thursday at 4.30pm for the following week.

Members cannot book tee times by telephone with the exception of the day before and the day of the actual competition.

Members may only add, remove or change the name of another member on the timesheet with their express permission – failure to observe this rule may at the discretion of the relevant committee, result in suspension from future club competitions.

Cancellations will be accepted on-line until midnight or by telephone / in person until close of business, on day before the competition.

Members who contact the office on the day of the competition itself because they are unable to play will be asked for any reasons. If any reason is given it will be noted on the back of the time sheet and will be considered by the relevant committee before a decision is taken as to whether or not the player will face suspension from future club competitions.

Any competitor who fails to turn up on the day of competition without contacting the office in advance may at the discretion of the relevant committee, face suspension from future club competitions.

All competitors must report to the shop, have paid appropriate entry fee, be on tee and ready to commence play five minutes before the allotted starting time. Failure to do so will result in a 2 shot penalty.

Play is not to commence until allotted tee time.

2. GENERAL

All scorecards must be fully completed including competition name, player name, handicap and date. Allscorecards must be signed by both competitor and marker.

All scorecards must be returned and score entered into the computer. Failure to do so may, at the discretion of the relevant committee, result in suspension from future club competitions.

All cards must be marked by another player with an official GUI/ILGU handicap, in the case of a Junior he/she must be eligible to compete in the competition for which the card is being marked. Group marking of cards is prohibited.

All singles competitions (subject to course conditions) on the fixture list from April onwards will be qualifying competitions for handicap purposes unless otherwise indicated on the timesheet for the day in question.

Where a prize distribution is arranged for the evening of the competition, prizewinners who are not present will, at the discretion of the relevant committee, forfeit any prize for which they are eligible.

Slow play must be avoided. The pace of play in a Saturday Competition is that of a Fourball. Maximum time allowed for completion of 18 Holes is 4 Hours & 15 minutes.

Any Fourball who falls more than one hole behind the Fourball in front MUST call through the match behind - offenders may at the discretion of the relevant committee, face suspension from future club competitions.

Please repair pitch marks, replace divots and rake bunkers, leaving rake in back of bunker.

Matchplay matches must not be combined with Saturday / Sunday competitions, unless approved in advance by the relevant Committee.

3. SUSPENSIONS - Members who:

Enter name on time sheet and do not appear,

Remove name from timesheet on the day of the Competition without providing an adequate reason,

Fail to enter their score into the computer / return card following completion of round Add, remove or change the name of another member on the timesheet without their express permission

Fail to call through the match behind after falling more than 1 hole behind the Fourball in front

Members who offend may, at the discretion of the relevant committee, be suspended from all club competitions as follows below - The 1st offence 1 Week - 2nd offence 2 Weeks - 3rd offence 3 Weeks etc.

4. LOCAL RULES – See Reverse Of Scorecard

Defination - Rule 2 - HARD SURFACE ROAD
Any road or pathway (Excluding that area around the Clubhouse as defined in Rule 1) which is finished in Tarmac or Concrete

Defination - Rule 5 - PATHWAYS
Any road or pathway not finished in Tarmac or Concrete

Defination - Rule 4 - STAKED TREES
Any staked tree not enclosed with others by a single mesh fence

Defination - Rule 6 - TREES ENCLOSED BY MESH FENCING
Any group of staked trees where all are enclosed by a single mesh fence THESE DEFINITIONS FORM PART OF THE LOCAL RULES FOR THE COURSE UNTIL RESCINDED BY THE HANDICAP COMMITTEE.

THE FOLLOWING IS IN ADDITION TO THE LOCAL RULES SHOWN ON THE SCORECARD.

Defination - Local Rule 8 - EMBEDDED BALL THROUGH THE GREEN
Ball "Through the green, a ball that is embedded in its own pitch-mark in the ground, other than sand, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green.
Exception: A player may not obtain relief under this Local Rule if it is clearly unreasonable for him to make a stroke because of interference by anything other than the condition covered by this Local Rule.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE
Match play - Loss of hole; Stroke play - Two strokes." Note: The position of the ball must be marked before it is lifted under this Local Rule - see Rule 20-1
Explanation: Relief, under this rule, cannot be taken if a ball is embedded in grass or sand it must be embedded in the ground


5. COMPETITION PRIZES

The Gents Committee have decided to award prizes in each Saturday competition (Ex Team Event Weeks) during the season as follows;

DIVISION WINNER - HANDICAP 0 – 11
DIVISION WINNER - HANDICAP 12 – 17
DIVISION WINNER – HANDICAP 18 – 28

NO PLAYER MAY WIN MORE THAN 1 PRIZE
PRIZES WILL BE ALLOCATED IN VALUE ORDER
