Welcome from the Junior Captain

I am greatly honoured by the Junior committee for electing me to fulfil this prestigious position within Rockmount golf club, for the forthcoming year. I wish both our captains, Ladies’ captain Leonie Power and Gents’ captain Alan McClune, a successful and prosperous year in office.

I know that I shall receive support and assistance from my vice-captain, Jordan Patmore and that together we shall look to the forthcoming season with eager anticipation, sharing bright prospects for the Junior section as a whole. I am very pleased to be working alongside the new junior convenor, John Gray. John was very helpful in the running of the junior section last year. He is enthusiastic and shares a great belief in our flourishing Junior section, which will help us move from strength to strength in future years. It was brilliant to see the sterling performances of the junior section last year, most notably in the winning of the Sargaisson Shield, fending off stiff competition from many distinguished quarters. It is my hope and ambition that we can enjoy continued success in my year of captaincy.

Should any junior member experience any problems, or have any issues, I urge you to speak to either myself or a member of the junior committee so that this may be resolved quickly, quietly and in an appropriate manner. Above all else I shall endeavour to make Rockmount a place to be enjoyed.

In conclusion, may I request that each junior member remembers always to repair their pitch marks on the greens, replace their divots, rake bunkers and behave in accordance with the etiquette of this great game. Finally, I wish each junior member every success in the forthcoming year and would like to finish with a quote from the great Gary Player who said,

“The more I practise, the luckier I get”...
